About Dr. Bill Tharp

Dr. Bill became our Worship Pastor in November 2006. He came from West Columbia, Texas where he served as Senior Pastor at First Baptist Church, Old Ocean. Dr. Bill grew up in Bryan, Texas and graduated from Texas A&M in 1971 with a BBA degree. He received the M.R.E. from Southwestern Seminary in Ft. Worth (1981)and the DMin from Trinity Theological Seminary in Newburgh, Indiana (2001).

Dr. Bill married Frances, a beautiful P.K. and nurse, in May 1977. They have four children, one son and three daughters. Their family has grown in the past few years with the addition of three sons-in-law and five grandchildren.  Dr. Bill has served either as pastor, minister of music, minister of education, or minister of youth in Southern Baptist churches in Texas, Alabama, and Mississippi. He has been a Christian counselor as well as a Music Evangelist.
